HUNDRED
WATT HEART BAND

A LIFETIME OF MUSIC
REBORN IN THE BASEMENT

We often associate wattage with how much light is casted or how much sound is yielded from a source using electricity. In the case of Hundred Watt Heart, both sound and light work together to bring forth what resides in the souls of the beings within this band. And that is the love that goes into what transpires when these musicians get a chance to share the honor of celebrating the human experience.

When Captain Kirk Douglas isn't playing guitar with the Legendary Roots Crew, he is rocking with big bad Ricc Sheridan on drums. Their paths crossed back in late ‘90s while playing in various bands in the east village of NYC. Upon meeting, their shared love of soul, rock, blues, psychedelia, dance, fusion, funk, and all things in between (not to mention their love of food) paved the way for a friendship and brotherhood that went beyond music. Both musicians played together and separately with bass player Gbatokai Dakina back then and after a 20 year lapse have reunited recently only to find the love was still there.

The love can be heard and felt in the music which can at times be thunderous and other times delicate but always a reflection of mother nature and human nature. Their newest effort, the album New Unknown was recorded in the basement of Kirk's childhood home. Now available on vinyl for the 1st time, it captures many moods inviting the listener to enter the world created. The current mission is to bring that world to life onstage and gather life experience to record the next one; also to find the next best barbecue spot. Weather korean, or southern.... actually have you tried Filipino BBQ? Crazy good...

But, yes back to the music.

Come fly with us.
